Colorado Pictures

Happy Holidays

So, we spent the last week in Colorado. We decided that we haven't had a family vacation, and now was the time to do it. We left on Saturday, December 20th and returned on Sunday, December 28th. It was a blast!!

We got there on December 21st and spent time getting the cabin arranged, going to the grocery store, etc.

On Monday, the 22nd, we decided to go skiing. Since Trevor is too little, we put him in childcare. The only available one was on the West Side of the Mountain, yet our cabin was on the East Side. So, we drove an hour to drop him off, and then drove about 30-45 minutes back to ski. RJ wasn't so fond of skiing. He would much rather have just played in the snow. So, that made it difficult for Robert. We skiied for a couple of hours. After skiing, we packed up our stuff and got ready to go pick up Trevor and eat some dinner before heading back to the cabin. However, the road to the West Side was closed. Seems like they were doing some avalanche work...the workers close the roads, make avalanches, and then clean the roads. But, there apparently were some problems on this particular day. So, we were stuck at the top of the mountain with no way to get to Trevor for over an hour. They finally opened the road, and we got to get our baby, only 1 hour after the facility closed. YIKES!! But now we couldn't get back up and over to the side of our cabin. We had to rent a hotel room for the evening. That really stunk since we had already paid in full for the cabin on the East Side, and ALL of our belongings were at the cabin.

On Tuesday, the 23rd, we were still stuck in Pagosa Springs on the West Side of the mountain. We spent more money! We had to eat, had to charge our cell phones, had to have entertainment for the kids, etc. We were just about to check back into the hotel, and were at a thrift store to buy a swimsuit for all of us, when they made an announcement that they were going to open the pass at 5 pm. We ran and jumped back into the car in order to get in line to go to the cabin. They weren't sure how long they were going to have the road open, and we wanted to make sure that we got back. At 5:01, we were on our way!!!

On Wednesday, the 24th, Robert and I decided to go skiing again. This time, I had spoken with a woman on the East Side of the mountain about watching the kids. We decided not to take RJ with us since he didn't really like it. So, he was excited about going to his "Colorado school." About 30 minutes before Robert and I were going to call it quits, I had a huge spill in the snow. My right pole got stuck in the snow, and I went forward with my hand still attached to the pole. I strained my right elbow. It hurt like you wouldn't believe! Robert had to take me to the Ski Patrol. That was exciting! :) The best part was instead of an ice pack, it was a snow pack. After leaving the ski area, we went and picked up the boys, went to the grocery store to buy stuff for cookies for Santa and carrots for the reindeer. Once back at the cabin, we just relaxed.

Thursday, the 25th - Christmas day - The boys woke us up pretty early in order to get started unwrapping their presents from Santa. We hung out at the cabin all day. It was very nice and relaxing.

Friday, the 26th, Robert wanted to go skiing again. However, the pass was closed up to the mountain. We went into town to buy some gifts, t-shirts, etc. Most of the roads were closed, so we didn't go far, and we didn't do much. We got the van stuck in the snow a few times. That was so fun! NOT!

On Saturday, the 27th, we loaded up to head back to Texas. We stopped at my brother's house in Arlington to exchange Christmas presents and to visit for a little while. When we left there, we headed straight home. Nothing beats a good nights rest in your own bed!

Trying to get more up to date

So, I have been looking at some of my friends' blogs and notice that I do not blog enough to keep people up with what's going on in our lives.

I am going to try to do better and post at least once a week. Please help me! :)

Back to School

So, Robert and I had to officially return to work this past week. RJ was soooo excited to go back to school and see his friends. He tells me today, "Miss Alicia gets mad when I'm not being nice...but when I'm nice, she's happy!" How funny. So I explained to him that he must always follow rules, directions, and listen to Miss Alicia, and she will be happy with him all of the time. We'll see how well that works!

Trevor is trying to cut about 6 teeth at one time. He has had fever 2 nights this past week. However, there are still not any teeth poking through. UGH!!!! Hopefully one day they will come through. He has kept Robert and I up for several nights.

Robert is enjoying his new job in Galena Park ISD. He had a week of new teacher in-service. This next week, he has in-service with all teachers.

I just finished "Math Boot Camp" with some math teachers in our district. It went really well. This week, I have to give a presentation to the administrators in our district. I also have to do a mini presentation for all secondary math teachers.

To all of my teacher friends - I hope that you have a wonderful school year!!!

Back to The Blog

So...I've been really bad at blogging what's going on in the Thibodeaux household. This is my attepmt to start up again.

We went to Kemah tonight to celebrate my mom's birthday. RJ had a blast running through the dancing fountain. He and Grandma got a balloon made - RJ's is a sword and Grandma's is a flower.

Trevor just hung around in his stoller. Robert did take him out so that he could play in the water too. I'll post pictures when I download them!
